HC Deb 04 May 1983 vol 42 c77W
Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will make a statement on progress made over structure plans since the reply by the hon. Member for Pudsey (Mr. Shaw) to the hon. Member for Melton on 7 July 1982, Official Report, c. 152.

Mr. Giles Shaw

All the 72 structure plans needed to cover England have now been submitted, and of these 68 have been approved. The two plans approved since 7 July 1982 are:

  • South West Hampshire—14 September 1982
  • Central and North Lancashire—9 February 1983

Of the four plans outstanding, three have already been the subject of examinations in public, and an examination of the fourth—Avon—is to begin next month.
