asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will arrange for the publication of the returns from each local authority of form SSDA 904 on fostering and places of safety.

A summary for England of the information from SSDA 904 is included in the publication "Children in Care of Local Authorities", copies of which are in the Library. Publication of the figures for each local authority ceased after 1979 in the interests of economy. Following a subsequent recommendation of the review of personal social services statistics, the content of this return and the question of publication is to be given further consideration by the Department and representatives of the local authorities.
