HC Deb 09 March 1983 vol 38 cc429-30W
24. Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will bring forward further proposals for nuclear disarmament.

Mr. Hurd

With our full participation and support NATO has already put forward, at the current negotiations in Geneva, by far the most radical proposals for nuclear arms control and disarmament. In the negotiation about intermediate-range nuclear forces, we have welcomed President Reagan's clear statement of the United States position, made on 22 February, that the American negotiator has instructions to explore any solution put forward which meets NATO's principles of balance.
