HC Deb 29 July 1983 vol 46 c646W
Sir Michael Shaw

asked the Prime Minister, if she will make a statement on Report No. 19 of the Top Salaries Review Body about the pay of certain top salary groups.

The Prime Minister

[pursuant to her reply, 21 July 1983, c. 224]: Further to my reply of 21 July 1983, the Armed Forces Pay Review Body has now submitted to me a supplementary report on the pay of medical and dental officers in the armed forces. It recommends increases in their pay of amounts averaging 6.6 per cent. from 1 April 1983 rising to 9.3 per cent. from 1 January 1984. These recommendations reflect the award to civilian doctors and dentists which I announced to the House on 12 May 1983 —[Vol. 42, c. 434–35]. I said at the same time that the Government had accepted in full the recommendations in the twelfth report of the Armed Forces Pay Review Body (Cmnd. 8880) on the pay of the majority of the members of the forces.

The Government having decided to accept in full the recommendations in the supplementary report on the pay of medical and dental officers. The report has been published as Cmnd. 8950. Copies are available in the Vote Office.
