§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Wales why the Llanfairpwll bypass in Gwynedd was not completed in time to avoid traffic congestion for visitors attending the National Eisteddfod of Wales at Llangefni.
§ Mr. Stradling Thomas[pursuant to his reply, 28 July 1983, c. 582]: The bypass is due to be open to traffic on 19 August, whereas the due date for completion under the terms of the contract is not until 21 November. The contract completion date was extended during the course of the contract because the contractor met with unforeseen geological conditions, adverse weather and other problems. Special measures are being taken to cope with the expected increase in traffic because of the Eisteddfod.
