HC Deb 29 July 1983 vol 46 c713W
Mr. Murphy

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will review the process of implementing the law relating to the illegal camping by gipsies and itinerant travellers in order that landowners' rights can be quickly and cheaply reasserted.

Mr. Macfarlane

Under the Caravan Sites Act 1968 there are powers to remove caravans unlawfully stationed on land in a designated area. These powers were enhanced by the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980. The position is kept under review, but there are no plans for a further review of the law.
