HL Deb 27 July 1983 vol 443 c1607WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will have copies of documents published by the European Commission of Human Rights on prisoner cases in every library in the prisons of England and Wales.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office (Lord Elton)

No. General guidance about the European Convention of Human Rights is already available in prison libraries. We do not consider it necessary to provide copies of published Commission documents on individual cases, which are often voluminous, in every prison library. Prisoners may, of course, approach the Commission directly if they wish to obtain these documents.
