§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will consider the claims of chiropractice to be recognised as a profession supplementary to medicine.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeThe decision whether to recognise a profession under the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960 rests with the council established under that Act, and not with the Department. We have encouraged the chiropractic profession to apply to the council for this purpose, and it is for it to decide whether to do so.
