§ Mr. WaddingtonThe grant-in-aid paid to the Commission for Racial Equality in 1982–83 totalled £8.287 million. The provisional figure for total expenditure on the remuneration of the chairman and deputy chairman, fees for part-time commissioners, staff salaries, national insurance, pension contributions and travel and subsistence payments is £2.859 million—34.5 per cent. of the total grant-in-aid. The average number of staff employed by the commission in the last financial year was 214.
