§ The Prime MinisterThe commitments and deployment of British forces outside the NATO area are kept under regular review, and I am satisfied that they are consistent with the principles set out in our White Papers on "The Way Forward" (Cmnd. 8288) and "The Falklands Campaign: The Lessons" (Cmnd. 8758). Part 3 of Cmnd. 8758 sets out the measures we are taking to improve the ability of our forces to operate outside the European theatre.
