§ The Prime MinisterWe remain deeply concerned about the plight of the Afghan refugees. These victims of Soviet aggression should not be forgotten by the international community. Since January 1980 the United Kingdom has given or pledged more than £11 million of cash and food aid to Afghan refugees in Pakistan. We admire the efforts of the Pakistan Government to provide for the refugees, and consider that it would be best for any initiative for an international meeting to come from the countries most directly concerned.
