§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will seek to correct the imbalance in EC assistance as between livestock fanners and the more substantially assisted cereal growers as a result of high Common Market grain prices; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithTo improve the balance between sectors of our farming industry, I have sought and achieved lower price increases for cereals than for livestock in the last two common agricultural policy price reviews. I have made clear to my Community colleagues that I think a further step needs to be taken in this direction in settling prices for 1983–84, on which negotiations are now in progress.
