Northumberland — 344 hectares Durham — 1,166 hectares Tyne and Wear — 922 hectares No information is available on the amount of land reclaimed since 1 April 1978, or on the amount of derelict land remaining to be reclaimed. Up to date information will be provided when the analysis of the derelict land survey held in 1982 is complete and ready for publication later this year.
The last national survey, made in 1974, showed that there were 2,411 hectares of derelict land in Northumberland, 3,106 hectares in Durham and 1,314 hectares in Tyne and Wear. Of this, 1,640 hectares, 2,645 hectares and 1,277 hectares respectively were considered to justify reclamation.
