§ Mr. Hal Millerasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether the reports of the recent Rayner review of research council support services are available; and whether their recommendations will be accepted.
§ Mr. BrookeI have today arranged for copies of the report by the central team and of the reports of the reviews of the support services of the Agricultural and Food Research Council—formerly the Agricultural Research Council—the Medical Research Council, the Natural Environment Research Council and the Science and Engineering Research Council to be placed in the Libraries of both Houses of Parliament. The Economic and Social Research Council, formerly the Social Science Research Council, was not included in the scope of the review.
Each research council has been responsible for deciding the extent to which it accepts the recommendations of the individual reports. Accordingly each head of research council has now submitted an action document recording its decisions on this matter to my right hon. Friend. Copies of these action documents have also been placed in the Libraries.
The Department intends to produce an action document relating to the central report shortly.
