§ Mr. Lathamasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received from the Natural Environment Research Council that the council should be designated as a service within the meaning of section 2(3) of the British Nationality Act 1981; what response he has made; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BrookeResponsibility for designations under section 2(3) of the British Nationality Act 1981 rests with my right hon. and learned Friend the Home Secretary. My right hon. Friend has recently received a request from the Natural Environment Research Council for designation of service with the Council under section 2(3) of the Act. He is currently considering the Council's request.
