§ Mr. Gordon Brownasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list in detail the individual savings which, if clause 6 of the Health and Social Security Bill were enacted, would reduce benefit expenditure from the national insurance fund by £18 million by 1986–87.
§ Mr. NewtonThe savings would be made almost entirely from child dependency additions to contributory invalidity benefit. Small amounts would be saved from child dependency additions to other long-term benefits.
