§ Mr. Arnoldasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is satisfied with the arrangements governing the marking of country of origin of dairy products in retail outlets.
§ Mr. MacGregorRegulations already require all prepackaged dairy products to bear an indication of the place of origin when not to do so might mislead a purchaser to a material degree as to the true origin of the food. This requirement is derived from a Community harmonisation Directive 79/112/EEC which has been implemented by the Food Labelling Regulations 1980 as regards foods generally, and by the Milk (Special Designation) (Amendment) Regulation 1982, the Milk and Dairies (Semi-skimmed) (Heat Treatment and Labelling) (Amendment) Regulations 1982 and the Importation of Milk Regulations 1983 as regards milk.
