§ Mr. WhitneyMy right hon. and learned Friend has at present no plans to discuss Afghanistan with the Soviet ambassador. As I explained to my hon. Friend on 9 November, the Soviet Union can be in no doubt about our views on Afghanistan. The adoption of a fifth United Nations resolution on 23 November calling for the immediate withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan shows that these views are shared by the vast majority of the international community.
