asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the 11 per cent. uprating of national insurance pensions this year is to apply also to indexed public service pensions; and if so, whether in the latter case as in the former it is proposed to make a compensatory reduction next year.

Yes, to both questions. As my right honourable and learned friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer said in another place, the Government intend to make an adjustment to next year's uprating. As is customary, the exact size of next year's uprating will not be decided before Budget time.
