§ Mr. Altonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Chief Constable of Merseyside as to the number of officers within his force who have been available for operational duties over the last 12 months.
§ Mr. MayhewSince April 1981, the strength of the Merseyside police has increased by 34 officers, to 4,631 at the end of March 1982. All officers are regarded as available for deployment on operational duties, unless they are absent, for example, by reason of sickness.
