§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give details of any discussions in which his Department is participating at present taking place in Europe on the question of reducing air pollution.
§ Mr. Giles Shaw[pursuant to his reply, 11 May 1982]: My Department is currently engaged in discussions within the European Community on proposals for:
A directive for air quality standards for lead
A decision on the exchange of information on air pollution
A decision regarding chlorofluorocarbons in the environment
It is also participating in the discussions of an ad hoc working group on air pollution from motor vehicles. In the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe my Department is involved in discussions on the long range transmission of air pollution.
