§ Mr. Iain Millsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will seek to legislate to provide that local authorities may not levy charges on users of paths, cycle tracks and bridleways where rights of way are established.
§ Mr. MacfarlaneLocal authorities have no power to levy charges for the use by the public of public footpaths, bridleways and cycle tracks. Legislation to prevent them from doing so is therefore unnecessary.
