§ Mr. WakehamPayments of mainstream corporation tax by companies operating solely in Northern Ireland are estimated to have been between £35 million and £40 million in recent years. These figures exclude the profits of any branches in Northern Ireland of companies operating elsewhere in the United Kingdom. As companies might change their structure in order to take advantage of any new situation the potential loss of tax revenue would probably be larger than is implied by the figures.
