Mr. Michael Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many staff are employed by the European Economic Community Commission office in Brussels.

Mr. Hurd

On 15 June 1982, the number of permanent staff employed by the Commission of the European Community was 9,469. Most of these are in Brussels, but some work elsewhere.
