§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why it was at a late date in his appointment as Queen's police officer that former Commander Trestrail was positively vetted.
§ Mr. WhitelawAt the time of Commander Trestrail's appointment the post was not included among those judged by the Metropolitan Police to meet the criterion for positive vetting. During a recent general review of posts they took a different view. The task of analysing what happened and making recommendations as to the future now falls to Lord Bridge.
