HL Deb 05 July 1982 vol 432 c651WA
Lord Houghton of Sowerby

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What methods local authorities may use for the destruction of feral cats and whether shooting is one of them.

The Earl of Avon

Local authorities have no special powers or responsibilities in regard to feral cats. Permissible methods of destroying feral cats are not prescribed by law. It is for local authorities to decide what action to take.
