§ Mr. Stan Thorneasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether it is his intention to give the Lancashire Police Authority financial assistance in meeting the cost of security surrounding the handless corpse trial, Lancaster Crown court, January to July 1981; and, if so, in what sum.
§ Mr. MayhewThe investigation of the murder of Martin Christopher Johnson and security arrangements for the trial were the responsibility of the Lancashire police. The costs will qualify for police grant in the usual way. We have no power to make any additional contribution.
