§ Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) which local education authorities have indicated, in response to circular 2/81, that there was no surplus of school places in their areas;
(2) what steps he intends to take concerning those local education authorities which have either failed to make returns, or made returns which showed no surplus of school places, in response to his Department's circular 2/81.
§ Dr. BoysonAll returns so far from local education authorities indicate a surplus of school places in the period up to 1986. The Department is asking authorities who have not yet replied to circular 2/81 when they expect to make their returns.
