Mr. Philip Holland

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list in the Official Report the relevant experience and part-time official appointments, if any, held by persons holding full-time appointments as chairmen or members of non-departmental public bodies associated with his Department.

Mr. Whitelaw

The relevant experience of persons holding full-time appointments as chairmen or members of non-departmental public bodies for which the Home Office is the sponsoring Department is as follows. None of these persons holds any part-time paid official appointment.

Commission for Racial Equality

Chairman—former Education Officer, Inner London Education Authority.

Deputy Chairman—former headmaster and Vice-Chairman of Leicester Community Relations Council.

Equal Opportunities Commission

Chairman—former Women's Organiser of the Labour Party.

Police Complaints Board

Deputy Chairman—Solicitor, former Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Council.

Member—former member of Community Relations Commission.

Immigration Appellate Authorities

The President and the two Vice Presidents of the Immigration Appeal Tribunal, the Chief Adjudicator and 15 of the Adjudicators are appointed on a full-time basis. All have judicial, legal and/or appropriate administrative experience.
