§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish details of the formula used in England by health authorities and local authorities as a basis for sharing the funding of joint-funded projects.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeThe arrangements for jointly funding social services projects are set out in departmental circulars HC(77)17 and HC(79)18. Copies are in the Library of the House and are available on request. The main provisions are that grants may be given by health authorities for up to 100 per cent. of the capital cost of a jointly financed project. Grants to meet the full revenue costs of a project may be made for up to three years and the total period of revenue support may not normally exceed seven years. Extended terms of joint financing will be available where necessary under the Government's care in the community initiative, about which a circular will shortly be issued.
