Mr. Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will ensure that his Department collects information as to the proportion and number of parents deemed to be paying parental contributions who have (a) a younger dependent child, (b) more than one younger dependent child and (c) children still in private education; and whether any estimate as to these figures is available to his Department.

No estimate is available. My right hon. Friend has no plans to impose on local education authorities the additional administrative burden of collecting this information.
