HC Deb 06 December 1982 vol 33 c348W
35. Mr. Lennox-Boyd

asked the Minister for Trade if he will make a statement on the current balance of trade between the United Kingdom and the rest of the European Economic Community in (a) manufactures and services and (b) oil.

Mr. Peter Rees

For January to October this year there was a crude deficit of £4.1 billion on trade in manufactures and a crude surplus of £3.7 billion on trade in oil with the other countries of the European Community. Information on services is not compiled on a quarterly basis and so it is not available for 1982.

However, for 1981 there was a crude deficit of £3.0 billion on United Kingdom trade in manufactures, a surplus of £0.2 billion on United Kingdom trade in non-Government services and a crude surplus of £3.7 billion on trade in oil with the other countries of the European Community.
