Mr. Marlow asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his best estimate as to the net increase in the United Kingdom population of New Commonwealth with Pakistan origin since 3 May 1979.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg: Estimates of changes in the size of the population of New Commonwealth and Pakistani ethnic origin resident in Great Britain relate to mid-years only. Estimates will shortly be published for the twelve months from mid-1979 to mid-1980; they show a net increase in this population of 91,000, made up as follows:
