HC Deb 29 October 1981 vol 10 cc420-1W

Mr. Onslow asked the Secretary of State for Employment what action he is taking to ensure that staff of the Manpower Services Commission deal promptly and efficiently with all applications for grants under the training opportunities scheme, in the light of the case of a constituent of the hon. Member for Woking, details of which have been sent to him.

Mr. Peter Morrison:

Last year the Manpower Services Commission handled over 140,000 applications under the training opportunities programme. I have taken up this case with the chairman of the MSC and the staff responsible, who share my regret at the time taken and the failure to keep the applicant informed.
