HC Deb 29 October 1981 vol 10 c463W

Mr. Frank Allaun asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is satisfied that cargoes of nuclear weapons which Her Majesty's Government originate are carried safely by British Rail; and if Her Majesty's Government have had any discussions with British Rail about the inclusion of cargoes of this nature in the British Rail computer system.

Mr. Pattie: Great care is taken to ensure that all movements of nuclear weapons take place in the safest possible manner. As is well known, however, it is Government policy not to comment on the methods or routes used for the transport of such weapons for obvious security reasons.
