§ Mr. Michael Brown asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many civil servants at the Northern Ireland Office are on secondment from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office; how many are in each administrative and executive grade; and what percentage they represent of the total number of United Kingdom civil servants at the Northern Ireland Office.
§ Mr. John Patten: On 1 October 1981 there were six—one grade 3, two grade 4, one grade 8, one grade 9 and one grade S1—representing just under 3 per cent. of the total number of United Kingdom civil servants in the Northern Ireland Office.
