HC Deb 29 October 1981 vol 10 c433W

Mr. William Ross asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if the survey into the less-favoured areas in Scotland has yet been completed; and when he now expects to put a case to the European Commission for an extension of the United Kingdom less-favoured areas.

Mr. Younger:

The land survey work in Scotland has been completed and the supporting economic and demographic data are now being assembled. My right hon. Friends and I hope to be able to put a case for an extension of the less-favoured areas in the United Kingdom to the European Commission at about the end of the year.
