§ 17. Mr. Stanbrook asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received about an increase in the establishment of the Metropolitan Police.
§ Mr. Whitelaw:The Commissioner and I keep the establishment under review. Although the force has 24,834 officers, the highest number in its history, it is still 61/2 per cent. short of its present establishment.
