§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the total cost of tenders put out by his Department to contractors for work once provided by directly employed labour.
§ Sir George YoungInformation is not available in terms of tender costs. The annual value of work carried out by the directly-employed works labour force of the Property Services Agency fell by about £19 million at constant (1980–81) prices over the three-year period 1978–79 to 1980–81, and much of this work is now done by contractors.
