§ Mr. Peter MorrisonThe level of Government support for industry's long-term skill training has been increased considerably this year. Out of a total of about £50 million allocated for this purpose, about £23 million is being used to support apprentice training in the engineering industry. One of the major objectives of the "New Training Initiative" is to achieve more flexible and open arrangements for training young people and adults to recognised standards of skill.
