§ Mr. Richard Pageasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will ensure that procurement policies for police and fire brigades' radio communication equipment will be based upon a system of tendering that will ensure that all suitably qualified firms are able to compete;
(2) whether the new radio communication systems throughout the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland for police and fire brigades which have been proposed by his Department will be compatible with one another; and if not, what steps are to be taken to ensure that efficient co-operation between neighbouring services is not impaired.
