asked the Secretary of State for Employment what are (a) the numbers and (b) the percentages of workers in employment who are employed by firms with (i) one to 20, (ii) 21 to 100, (iii) 101 to 500, (iv) 501 to 1,000, (v) 1,001 to 5,000 and (vi) more than 5,000 employees.

The precise information is not available but an indication of the size structure of industry in Great Britain can be seen from an article "How big is British Business" which appeared in the January 1978 issue of theDepartment of Employment Gazette. The article was based on the results of the last full census of employment in June 1976.
