HC Deb 11 June 1981 vol 6 c179W
20. Mr. Flannery

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prosecutions for offences against the Race Relations Act there have been since the Act became law.

Mr. Raison

I understand from my right hon. and learned Friend the Attorney-General, whose consent is required for prosecutions, that since the Act came into force in June 1977 there have been 17 prosecutions for offences connected with incitement to racial hatred and that a further three prosecutions are pending.
