asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is yet in a position to make a statement on the conduct of the police operations in Railton Road, Brixton, on 15 July.

No. An inquiry into the operation by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis has been conducted urgently and he has sent me an interim report, but he is not yet in a position to complete his final report. There are also formal complaints outstanding against individual officers connected with the operation which are still being investigated in accordance with the statutory procedures.
