asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether she will give the names of the members of the inquiry into the Civil Service pay.

My right hon. and noble Friend announced today that the following have accepted an invitation to serve on the inquiry under the chairmanship of the Right Hon. Sir John Megaw:

  • The Right Hon. Lord Lever of Manchester
  • Baroness Seear
  • Sir Peter Thornton KCB
  • Mr. James Ackers
  • Mr. John Chalmers CBE
  • Professor Christopher Foster
  • Mr. Robert Ramsey CBE
  • Mr. George Russell

The inquiry has been asked to report by next summer so that its recommendations can be considered in good time before the 1983 Civil Service pay settlement.
