Mr. Conlan

asked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) if he will give estimates for 1980 for (a) road accidents by severity, (b) rates of vehicle involvement in accidents, by class of vehicle, and (c) accident rates, by class of road;

(2) how many injury accidents there were in 1980 in Great Britain on (a) motorways and A(M) roads, (b) roads in built up areas; and (c) roads in non-built up areas.

The information requested will be published later this year in "Road Accidents Great Britain 1980". In the meantime, I shall write to the hon. Member.

Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many fatal accidents in the last year for which figures are conveniently available involved (a) motor cycles, (b) cars and (c) heavy goods vehicles.
