§ Dr. Edmund Marshallasked the Secretary of State for Defence why Regular Army Reservists are not paid the Army rates of pay which are paid to members of the Territorial Army.
§ Mr. GoodhartIt would be inappropriate to do so as their peacetime liability is quite different from that of members of: he Territorial Army. Regular Army Reservists are at present required to report one day a year496W under the individual reinforcement plan. They receive a reporting grant which replaced the previous systems of Regular Reservists pay. The training liability of members of the Territorial Army is more extensive and their remuneration reflects this. Details were set out in my answer to the hon. Member on 21 July.—[Vol. 9, c. 96–97.]
