asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider introducing new measures to deter those responsible for the more criminal offences against the person.

Heavy penalties are already available for the more serious offences against the person. My right hon. Friend will be glad to consider any suggestions for new measures that the hon. Member may have.
