HC Deb 16 July 1981 vol 8 c423W
Mr. Alan Williams

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what interest charges have been incurred in each month on money borrowed to cover the taxes not collected as a result of the Civil Service dispute.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

The Civil Service dispute is estimated to have cost by way of interest on extra borrowing £15 million in April, £25 million in May and £30 million to £40 million in June. The amount in March was small.
