§ Mr. Gordon Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in the light of the outbreak of salmonella poisoning at the Strathmartine hospital, Dundee, he is satisfied with the level of staffing and patient care; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. FairgrieveThere is nothing to suggest that the outbreak of salmonella poisoning at the Strathmartine hospital, Dundee, is in any way connected with levels of staffing and patient care.
Preventive action was taken about the outbreak when it began some weeks ago; and nine wards were closed. Two wards have now been opened. The situation, therefore, seems to be improving, but I am assured that it is being carefully watched.
